Abstract:
THE ANNUAL RETAIL TRADE SURVEY PROVIDES THE ONLY CONTINUING ARHTORITATIVE MEASURE EACH YEAR OF THE TOTAL RETAIL SALES END-OF-MONTH INVENTORY AND SALES-STOCKS RATIOS. THE ESTIMATES OF RETAIL TRADE DEVELOPED FROM THE ANNUAL SURVEY ARE USED AS A BENCHMARK FOR DEVELOPING MONTHLY RETAIL INVENTORY AND SALES ESTIMATES. THE DATA HAVE SIGNIFICANT APPLICATION TO THE NEEDS OF THE PUBLIC AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES
