THIS FORM IS USED TO COLLECT DATA ON THE NUMBER OF RESIDENTIAL AND NONRESIDENTIAL BUILDING AUTHORIZED BY BUILDING PERMITS. BUILDING PERMIT AUTHORIZATION ARE ONE OF THE 12 LEADING ECONOMIC INDICATORS. THE DATA ALSO ARE USED IN THE COMPILATION OF HOUSING STARTS ESTIMATES.
