IRC SECTIONS 6011 AND 6012 REQUIRE INDIVIDUALS TO FILE INCOME TAX RETURNS ANNUALLY. FORMS 1040 AND RELATED SCHEDULES ARE USED TO REPORT INCOME SUBJECT TO TAX AND COMPUTE THE TAX LIABILITY. THE DATA IS USED TO VERIFY THAT ITEMS ON THE FORMS ARE CORRECT AND FOR GENERAL STATISTICAL USE.
