Abstract:
FEDERAL STATUTES REQUIRE EACH STATE TO MAINTAIN A SURVEY OF ALL PUBLIC ROADS TO IDENTIFY HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS AND ELEMENTS, ASSIGN PRIORITIES FOR CORRECTION, AND ESTABLISH AND IMPLEMENT A SCHEDULE OF IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS WHICH ARE ELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL-AID FUNDING, AND INFORMATION FOR ANNUAL REPORTS TO CONGRESS FROM ALL STATES AND TERRITORIES TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF HIGHWAY SAFETY AND IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS AND 7 THEIR EFFECTIVENESS.
