Abstract:
THE CURRENT POPULATION SURVEY IS THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF ESTIMATES OF EMPLOYMENT, UNEMPLOYMENT, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CIVILIAN NONINSTITUTIONAL POPULATION AND VARIOU SUBGROUPS OF THAT POPULATION. GOVERNMENT POLICYMAKERS AND LEGISLATORS USE THESE RESULTS AS IMPORTANT INDICATORS OF OUR NATION'S ECONOMIC SITUATION AND FOR PLANNING AND EVALUATING MANY GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS.
