THIS INFORMATION IS NECESSARY FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO EVALUATE PERMIT APPLICATIONS AND PROSPECTING PLANS AND TO MONITOR ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED PURSUANT TO THE PERMITS. MONITORING AND EVALUATING ARE NEEDED TO ENSURE THERE ARE NOT ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION, PERSONNEL HARM, DAMAGE TO ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES, OR UNREASONABLE INTERFERENCE WITH OTHER USES.
