Abstract:
SECTION 515 OF P.L. 95-87 PROVIDES THAT PERMITTEES CONDUCTING SURFACE COAL MINING OPERATIONS SHA MEET ALL APPLICABLE PERFORMANCE STANDARDS OF THE ACT. THIS INFORMATIO IS USED BY REGULATORY AUTHORITY IN MONITORING AND INSPECTING SURFACE MINING ACTIVITIES TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE CONDUCTED IN A MANNER WHICH PRESERVES AND ENHANCES ENVIRONMENTAL AND OTHER VALUES OF THE ACT.
