AT THE CLOSE OF THE BATHING SEASON, A ONE-PAGE QUESTIONNAIRE IS MAILED TO RESPONSIBLE OFFICIAL(S) IN EACH OF THE 86 COUNTIES THAT BORDER THE GREAT LAKES ON THE AMERICAN SIDE. SURVEY RESULTS ARE INCORPORATED IN A REPORT TO THE INTERNATIONAL JOINT COMMISSION IDENTIFYING FREQUENCY OF POLLUTION-RELATED CLOSINGS OF RECREATIONAL BATHING BEACHES.
