In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act and 5 CFR 1320, this information collection (0583-0094) is approved for six months. Should the agency choose to resubmit this collection at the time, it shall provide an improved justification statement. In particular, a more thorough description of the approval of foreign plants meeting the FSIS "at least equal to" requirement should be provided, including a better estimate than the current 3 hour estimate of te burden of meeti FSIS requirements. For instance, is there no recordkeeping required by these establishments? The agency shall also describe efforts to identify duplication among federal sources of meat and poultry export information.

THESE INFORMATON COLLECTIONS ARE NECESSARY SO THAT FSIS CAN CERTIFY TO FOREIGN COUNTRIES THAT PRODUCT INTENDED FOR EXPORT HAS BEEN INSPECTED, ENSURE THAT UNMARKED MEAT AND POULTRY TRANSPORTED FOR FURTHER PROCESSI DOES NOT ENTER INTO COMMERCE, AND ENSURE THAT IMPORTED MEAT AND POULTR PRODUCTS ARE WHOLESOME, UNADULTERATED, AND PROPERLY LABELED AND PACKAGED.
