Approved for use through 9/97 under the condition that the next submission for OMB review contains a more thorough justification of annual reporting by all state cemetaries. In this justification, VA should move to a sample basis for this collec- tion, or present survey data reflecting variances in cemetary characteristics that would require surveying all cemetaries each year rather than a sample. VA should consult with state and cemetary personnel to determine the burden and practical utility of this survey's data before preparing this justification.

The data collected (Cemetery name; date open/closed, telephone number, director's name, total acreage, burial acreage, burial acreage developed, size of gravesites, gravesites developed, total columbarium etc.) enables the State Cemetery Grants Service, the Office of Field Operations, NCS and the Planning Division, Operations Support and numerous other activities to plan, manage, anticipate requirements, etc. (See Reverse)
