Abstract:
The annual trade survey, representing firms primarily engaged in merchant wholesale trade, is the only continual source of annual wholesale sales, inventories, inventory valuation methods, purchases, and gross margin data and is the only complete sample mailout to obtain the firms' purchases and gross margin data. These data are used in estimating the gross domestic product (GDP) and for benchmarking monthly sales and inventory data.
