Abstract:
The increase corresponds with the 5-year statute of limitations for criminal actions brought under the Export Administration Act of 1979 and predecessor acts and the 5-year statute for administrative compliance proceedings. Without this authority, potential violators could discard records demonstrating violations of the EAR prior to the expiration of the 5-year statute of limitations.
