Approved consistent with changes and clarifications described in DOL memos of 1-8-99 and 1-19-99. In addition the following terms shall be observed. 1. Approval through January 2000 will allow OSHA to continue work on the audits of data quality in this initiative which OMB strongly endorses. DOL will brief OMB on the results of these audits in July. In addition to the current focus, DOL will report on the data quality in firms with less than 60 employees. 2. DOL will complete comparison of the Data Initiative data with data from the IMIS system by September 1999 and will report on this comparison as part of the next clearance. 3. OMB does not approve expansion to firms with fewer than 40 employees as described in categories 11-13 in response 2 of the justification. Current data is insufficient to ensure the quality of data from smaller firms. OSHA may engage in a pilot study of these firms. The remainder of the expansion, including expansion to firms with between 40-49 employees is approved. 4. DOL will inform OMB of its resolution of the disclosure issue on this collection when this decision is made.
