ED is examining public comment in response to this NPRM. The proposed regulations would allow borrowers who are teachers in low-income areas and who have taught for 5 consecutive years, and who meet other requirements to receive up to 5 years of their Direct Subsidized or Direct Unsubsidized loans forgiven.
