This information collection request (ICR) is approved for three years. When EIA resubmits the ICR for renewal, the Agency should evaluate, after consulting with respondents, the burden estimates for reporting and recordkeeping requirements. OMB strongly encourages EIA to revisit the possibility of consolidating its AFV data collection efforts with the Department of Energy's efforts under Executive Order 13149. In addition, EIA should, to the extent possible, coordinate with the Census Bureau in its preparation of the Bureau of Census Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey (OMB number 0607-0830) which will next be collected in 2002.

Abstract:
Form EIA-886 is an annual survey of the number of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) made available on a calendar year basis and the amount and distribution of each type of Alternative Transportation Fuel (ATF) consumed. The data will be used to track the AFV supply situation available for the Federal Government, State Governments, and fuel providers, and the consumption of AFTs. Respondents are manufacturers, importers, and conversion companies of AFV vehicles, and ATF providers and users.
