Cost and hour figures have been changed to reflect the information provided in the supporting statement. The agency is reminded that information on the 83-I should agree with the details provided in the supporting statement. The form, as submitted, must be changed prior to distribution under this OMB control number to conform with OMB statistical policy governing the collection of data on race and ethnicity. OMB is disappointed that this change was not made in 2/2000 when the form was revised and reprinted. The agency is also reminded that the use of emergency clearances, particularly to request the reinstatement of collections which accidentally expired, is not acceptable. This collection has been in violation of the PRA since 3/31/2001. Finally, OMB notes that other information on the 83-I does not reflect the reality of this collection of information. Question six requests three years clearance. Question 12 states that this collection is mandatory. Question 15 states that this collection is to ensure compliance with regulations. And question 16 states that this collection is a recordkeeping requirement. These classifications need to be reexamined.
