Abstract:
This information is for the implementation and operation of the Voluntary Scrapie Flock Certification Program. Only enrolled flocks would be responding to the information requested. We are proposing to restrict the interstate movement of sheep and goats from states that do not follow effective flock management. We also are proposing to require animal identification of sheep and goats moving interstate and also to reinstate a scrapie indemnity program to compensate owners of certain animals destroyed due to scrapie. These changes will help prevent the interstate spread of scrapie, an infectious disease of sheep and goats.
