Terms of Clearance:
Approved consistent with clarifications in DOL memos of 10-5-01 and 10-12-01 and revised form attached. Approval applies to all parts of the revised recordkeeping rule with the exception of the delayed provisions, 1904.10, 1904.12, and 1904.29(b)(7)(vi). If OSHA wishes to promulgate these provisions a revised package must be submitted to OMB for approval. Finally, the current OSHA recordkeeping provisions retain approval until the revised rule included in this package goes into effect.

Abstract:
The OSH Act and 29 CFR Part 1904 prescribes that certain employers maintain records of job related injuries and illnesses. The data are needed by OSHA to carry out intervention and enforcement activities to guarantee workers safe and healthful workplaces. The data are also needed by BLS to produce national statistics on occupational injuries and illnesses.
