Approved consistent with clarifications in DOL memo of 11-28-01 and the following conditions. 1. BLS shall continue to consult with HHS on all changes to health related questions on the NLSY. 2. BLS shall ensure that in its study of incentive effects the question of whether increased incentives bias responses will be examined. 3. BLS shall submit when available the results of the studies on incentives and on the race/ethnicity question.

The information obtained in this survey will be used by the Department of Labor, other government agencies, academic researchers, the news media, and the general public to understand the employment experiences and life-cycle transitions of men and women born in the years 1957 to 1964 and living in the United States when the survey began in 1979.
