Terms of Clearance:
This package is approved for 3 years-- the previous clearance on 6/14/02 was only granted for 2 weeks due to a mistake in the 83-I submitted by Education. Education shall take care to assure that submissions are correct prior to OMB clearance in order to avoid this situation in the future. As per the previous terms of clearance, the disability discharge form will be used until July 1, 2002, at which point a revised disability discharge form will take the place of the form cleared under the current OMB number. The other discharge forms will continue to be cleared under this OMB number for the duration of the 3-year clearance.

Abstract:
These forms will serve as the means of collecting the information necessary to determine whether a FFEL or Direct Loan borrower qualified for a loan discharge based on school closure, false certification of student eligibility, or unauthorized signature. The school closure discharge application may also be used by Perkins Loan borrowers applying for a closed school discharge.
