Abstract:
The Formaldehyde Standard and its collections of information are designed to provide protection for employees from the adverse health effects associated with occupational exposure to formaldehyde. The Standard requires employers to monitor employee exposure and provide notification to employees of their exposure. Employers are required to make available medical surveillance to employees.

Short Statement:
The Agency is requesting an adjustment increase of 28,664 burden hours (from 490,412 hours to 519,076 hours). While the Agency decreased the number of affected establishments (from 133,196 to 112,638), it increased the number of employees (from 3,509,817 to 3,706,101) as a result of shifting from the SIC code to the NAICS code. In addition, an overall cost increase of $3,267,688 (from $52,058,000 to $55,325,688) occurred as a result of increasing the number of exposure monitoring samples under (A) Exposure monitoring (§1910.1048(d)) above.
