Short Statement:
This program adjustment increases the currently approved burden by 718,648 hours [3,254,580 new burden hours - 2,535,932 current approved burden hours = 718,648 hours. The increase is primarily the result of updating of the agencies figures concerning the volatile hiring market for truck drivers, and the benefit from the agency having data on the effect of the 2004 final rule titled, Safety Performance History of New Drivers. The rule required a drivers former employer(s) to respond to a request for certain records it has on the subject driver.
