Abstract:
Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) requires State educational agencies (SEAs), local educational agencies (LEAs), and schools to collect and disseminate information to document progress, inform parents and the public about school, district, and state educational performance, and provide services to students and teachers to help at-risk students meet challenging State achievement standards.

The change in burden hours is due to the estimated time that will be required for state and local educational agencies to implement the amended regulations; including, among other changes, 335,688 hours for the addition of data to "report cards" and 699,350 for cohort documentation.
