Abstract:
MSHA's regulations at 30 C.F.R. Part 46 set forth health and safety training and related recordkeeping requirements for shell dredging, sand, gravel, surface stone, surface clay, colloidal phosphate, or surface limestone mines. The records allow operators to show that miners have received the required training. MSHA inspectors use the records to determine that training required by the regulations has been provided. The purpose of these requirements is to decrease accidents, injuries, and fatalities in mining environments.
