Abstract:
In this collection of information, disposal facilities and salvage auctions must provide documentation and certifications to ensure that the trade-in vehicles received are "crushed or shredded."
Emergency Justfication:
Ms. Chandana Achanta Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs Office of Management and Budget Washington, D.C. Dear Ms. Achanta: Pursuant to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) procedures established at 5 CFR Part 1320, Controlling Paperwork Burdens on the Public, I ask that the following collection of information, Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Program, Disposal Facility & Salvage Auction Information, be processed pursuant to section 1320.13 Emergency processing. I have determined that this information must be collected prior to the expiration of time periods established under Part 1320, and that this information is essential to NHTSAs mission to implement this Program so that we may issue ensure that the qualified disposal facilities and salvage auctions that are the subject of this collection of information, properly dispose of used trade-in vehicles. NHTSA cannot reasonably comply with the normal clearance procedures because the use of normal clearance procedures is reasonably likely to cause NHTSA to miss a statutory deadline established in the Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act. Please approve or disapprove the collection of information by July 24, 2009. As you are aware, NHTSA has taken all practicable steps to consult with the EPA, other agencies, and members of the public in order to minimize the burden of this collection of information. Sincerely yours, Ronald Medford Acting Deputy Administrator
