Abstract:
The Commission adopted final rules governing the exchange of customer account information between local exchange carriers and interexchange carriers. The Commission concluded that mandatory minimum standards are needed in light of record evidence demonstrating that information needed by carriers to execute customer requests and properly bill customers is not being consistently provided by all local exchange carriers and by all interexchange carriers. In December 2007, the Commission declined to adopt mandatory LEC-to-LEC data exchange requirements

Short Statement:
The information collection is necessary to ensure the seamless provision of services and establishes carriersÂ’ responsibilities with respect to those exchanges. Due to the revised estimates of the number of LECs and IXCs operating in the United States, and to the CommissionÂ’s re-evaluation of the percentage of those carriers which require more time to make the required notifications, the Commission now estimates: the total number of respondents increased by +464, from 1,778 to 2,242 respondents, the total number of responses increased by +59,866, from 433,040 to 492,906 responses, and the total annual burden hours increased by +1,045, from 39,840 to 40,885 hours; There are no programs changes.
