Abstract:
The collections of information contained in the standard are needed to reduce injuries and deaths in the workplace that occur when employees are engaged in maintenance, repair, and other service related activities requiring the control of potentially hazardous energy.

Short Statement:
OSHA is requesting a net adjustment decrease of 24,182 burden hours (from 3,013,603 hours to 2,989,421 hours). This decrease is a result of updated data showing a decrease in the number of affected high impact establishments. In addition, OSHA has recently determined that there is an adjustment increase of $1,642,831 associated with the purchase of tags and ties by employers.

On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
