The BE-29, annual survey is used to obtain data for preparation of the transportation accounts of the U.S. International Transactions Accounts. Data are obtained from U.S. agents of foreign ocean carriers operating in the United States.

This request is for an extension of a currently approved collection. The change in the estimate of burden, from 596 hours to 229 hours, is a decrease of 367 hours. This change, which is shown as an adjustment, results from an updated mailing list and because prior burden estimates did not account for smaller respondent burden for other (non-mandatory) responses. The average burden for completing the annual survey is estimated at 3 hours for companies filing mandatory responses, resulting in a total respondent burden of 229 hours(72 mandatory responses times 3 hours average burden plus 13 other responses times 1 hour). The average burden for mandatory responses is unchanged.
