Short Statement: This program adjustment increase of 2,521,295 estimates annual burden hours [5,800,000 proposed annual burden hours - 3,278,705 currently approved annual burden hours = 2,521,295] is due primarily to the Agency's development of a more accurate estimate of the turnover rate of positions for CMV drivers each year. The Agency's current rate was based on a 13 percent turnover compared the proposed 57 percent. This resulted in an increase of 39,900,000 annual number of respondents [46,900,000 proposed - 7,000,000 currently approved = 39,900,000]. In addition, the Agency has discontinued its practice of including the burden for intrastate motor carrier data imposed by individual States in its estimates for this ICR.
