Short Statement:
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is proposing revisions of the general requirements for offerors to ensure proper classification and characterization of mined gases and liquids. These new proposed requirements are designed to lessen the frequency and consequences of train accidents/incidents (train accidents) involving the unintentional release of ethanol or petroleum crude oil (crude oil) and certain trains transporting a large volume of any combination of flammable gases, flammable liquids, or combustible liquids.
