Abstract:
This information collection request is used by the FMCSA to help ensure that drivers, motor carriers, and the States are complying with the notification and recordkeeping requirements for information related to testing, licensing, violations, convictions, and disqualifications. It is being revised due to an increase in the number of Commercial Driver License Information System (CDLIS) driver records from 12.8 to 14.6 million and the addition of one new information collection item, "Driver completion of knowledge and skill tests [49 CFR 383.71(a)(2)(ii) and (b)(2)] .

The total annual burden hours increase of 2,023,285 hours [3,651,867 proposed annual burden hours - 1,628,582 currently approved annual burden hours] is due to program change adjustment increase of 1,468,311 annual burden hours due to the increase in the number of CDLIS driver records from 12.8 million to 14.6 million [2,023,285 total annual burden hours increase – 554,974 annual burden hours program change increase due to the addition of a new IC entitled "Driver completion of knowledge and skill tests"].
