Design of cave-in protection systems are needed by employers in the construction industry and OSHA compliance officers to ensure that cave-in protection systems are designed, installed, and used in a manner to protect workers adequately.

An increase in the number of construction projects/sites from 761,873 to 931,009 has resulted in an adjustment increase in burden hours from 14,266 to 17,262, a total increase of 94,784 burden hours. There is also an increase in cost from $216,721 to $311,505 (an increase of $94,784) also due to an increase in the number of construction projects/sites.
