Abstract:
UPDATED AMENDMENT: ADDING UPDATED MISHANDLED BAGGAGE INSTRUCTIONS (NO OTHER CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE) On-Time flight data and mishandled baggage reports provide travelers with consumer information, while the FAA uses the data for their air traffic control modeling. The mandatory information collection under OMB control number 2138-0041 requires U.S. Air Carriers to provide On-Time flight data and mishandled baggage reporting, which accounts for 0.5 percent or more of the domestic scheduled passenger revenue for on-time data and 1 percent for mishandled baggage data collection. This information collection is reported on a monthly basis. This data is received by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) and published monthly in the Air Travel Consumer Report for consumers. The requested revision under the new final rule requires carriers that account for at least 0.5 percent of domestic scheduled passenger revenue, increasing the reporting carrier pool for the purpose of submitting On time data Effective January 1, 2018 and mishandled baggage effective January 1, 2019. This package reflects and is tied to the 2016 final .
