Abstract:
This is to request approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for a three-year renewal for the information collection titled, “Cargo Tank Specification Requirements.” These reporting and recordkeeping requirements are mandatory for regulated entities who manufacturers, maintain, repair, and inspect DOT specification cargo tanks. The information collected are used by shippers, carriers, and owners of cargo tanks to verify that the inspection, testing, requalification and maintenance standards are met, which mean that the cargo tanks are safe for continued use in hazardous materials service. There have been non-substantive changes made to this collection, based on PHMSA’s and FMCSA’s evaluation of current data collection to more accurately reflect the burdens associated with these information collections.
