Abstract:
VA Form 22-1999b is used by service members, veterans, and eligible dependents in reducing, terminating, withdrawing, graduating and making other changes in their current enrollment. This form is used to inform VA that their education status has changed. VA will use the information on this form (collection) to determine necessary changes in education benefits and adjust the student's award of benefits. VA uses the information collected to determine whether the beneficiaries’ educational benefits should be increased, decreased, or terminated, and the effective date of the change, if applicable. Without this information, VA might underpay or overpay benefits.

There was a significant increase in burden from the previous renewal due to a significant increase in school closures for issues regarding the students’ changes in their enrollment. We expect this burden to decrease significantly over the next few years after the COVID-19 pandemic has been contained.
