Abstract:
OMB Information Collection 1820-0600 reflects the provisions in the Act and the Part B regulations requiring States and/or local educational agencies (LEAs) to collect and maintain information or data and, in some cases, report information or data to other public agencies or to the public. However, such information or data are not reported to the Secretary. Data are collected in the areas of private schools, parentally placed private school students, State high cost fund, notification of free and low cost legal services, early intervening services, notification of hearing officers and mediators, State complaint procedures, and the LEA application under Part B.

Short Statement:
The total burden and total responses have been revised because of a program change due to the proposed regulations (agency discretion) and an adjustment in the agency estimate. Specifically, it was necessary to add the annual written notice requirement in 34 C.F.R. ยง 300.154(d)(2)(iv) of the proposed regulations. We estimate the one-time program change increase for the first year regarding the implementation of the notification requirement to be 9,422 hours. The 11,680 increase in hours due to adjustment in agency estimate is a correction of the previous estimates. The overall total change of both a program change and adjustment is 21,102 hours.
