Short Statement:
USCIS has made a number of revisions to Form N-400 and its Instructions. Information published in the M-476, Guide to Naturalization, was combined into the N-400 Instructions. The M-476 will no longer be published. USCIS added and removed a number of new questions to Form N-400, to help better assess respondents’ eligibility for naturalization and reduce collection of duplicative or less relevant information. USCIS also changed the N-400 instructions to indicate when evidence should be submitted at the time of filing the application and when evidence can be brought to the applicant’s interview. Additionally, USCIS has consolidated the Form I-942, Request for Reduced Fee (OMB# 1615-0133) questions into the N-400. I-942 will be discontinued under its own PRA action. The full scope of changes to the N-400 information collection is available for review in the Tables of Changes, PDFs, online filing copy deck, and online filing screen mockups submitted with this information collection request.
