DOJ/INS RIN: 1115-AE96 Publication ID: Spring 2003
Title: Adjustment of Status, Continued Validity of Nonimmigrant Status, and Unexpired Employment Authorization for Applicants Maintaining Nonimmigrant H or L Status
Abstract: Over the last several years, the Service has issued numerous policy statements regarding its position on employment authorization, advance parole, and extension of nonimmigrant status for certain skilled nonimmigrant workers who have filed for adjustment to permanent resident status. This interim final rule: (1) Codified existing Service policy statements by incorporating them into the Service's regulations and (2) eliminated the requirement for service permission for overseas travel for adjustment applicants who are maintaining H-1 or L nonimmigrant status. The Service will be publishing a final rule in response to public comments.
