Title: ●Extension of Border Zone in the State of New Mexico
Abstract: Under current Department of Homeland Security regulations, certain nonimmigrant Mexican nationals presenting a Border Crossing Card, or other proper immigration documentation, are not required to obtain a CBP Form I-94 (Form I-94), Arrival/Departure Record, if they remain within 25 miles of the border (75 miles in Arizona). This rule amends the DHS regulations to extend the distance these visitors may travel in New Mexico without obtaining a Form I-94 from 25 miles to 55 miles. This change is intended to promote commerce in southern New Mexico while still ensuring that sufficient safeguards are in place to prevent illegal entry to the United States.
