Title: Plain English Revision of Existing Standards (Phase II)
Abstract: OSHA has identified two standards from part 1910 that need to be revised as part of the President's initiative on Federal regulations discussed in the U.S. Department Labor Report of June 15, 1995. These standards include 29 CFR 1910.219, Mechanical Power-Transmission Apparatus and 29 CFR 1910, subpart P, Hand and Portable Powered Tools and Other Hand-Held Equipment. OSHA intends to issue two separate rules that will address the following specific sections: Mechanical power-transmission apparatus guarding and maintenance and hand and portable powered tools guarding, use and maintenance. OSHA is developing plain language versions of each of these standards.
