Title: Regatta and Marine Parade Regulations
Abstract: These routine and frequent special local regulations ensure the safety of participants and spectators during regattas and marine parades. The regulations or rules specify such controls as separate participant and spectator areas, separation schemes for watercraft in the area of the event, and temporary restrictions on waterways to accommodate the event. These rules are short-term in nature, usually applying to a single event not exceeding eight hours in duration, and usually encompass only a small portion of a navigable waterway. These rules are promulgated by District Commanders in response to a request from an event-sponsoring organization. These routine and frequent rulemakings support the Coast Guard's strategic goals of maritime safety and maritime mobility of commercial and recreational vessel traffic. The total actions expected from May 1, 2004, to April 30, 2005, are 40.
