Title: Revised Medical Criteria for Malignant Neoplastic Diseases (3429P)
Abstract: Sections 13.00 and 113.00, Malignant Neoplastic Diseases, of appendix 1 in part 404, subpart P of our regulations describe malignant neoplastic diseases that are considered severe enough to prevent a person from doing any gainful activity, or for a child claiming SSI payments under title XVI, that cause marked and severe functional limitations. We are proposing to revise these sections to ensure that the medical evaluation criteria are up-to-date and consistent with the latest advances in medical knowledge and treatment. The SSI program incorporates by reference and uses the same medical criteria as the old-age, survivors, and disability insurance program.
