(This rule makes minor changes to FSIS regulations based on mandatory country of origin labeling requirements.) |

Summary of the Legal Basis: FSIS is amending its regulations based on mandatory country of origin labeling for meat and poultry covered commodities based on the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008. Meat covered commodities include muscle cuts of beef (including veal), lamb, chicken, goat, and pork; ground beef, ground lamb, ground chicken, ground goat, and ground pork. This rule will provide consumers with additional information on which to base their purchasing decisions. |
