Title: Reef Fish Amendment 30A for Greater Amberjack and Gray Triggerfish: TAC Adjustments, Measures To End Overfishing and Establish SFA Parameters
Abstract: Greater amberjack are under a rebuilding plan. A 2006 stock assessment (SEDAR 9) concluded the stock is not recovering as projected. It continues to be overfished and is undergoing overfishing. Adjustments to TAC and management measures are needed to end overfishing and bring the recovery of the greater amberjack stock back into compliance with its ten-year rebuilding time frame. Gray triggerfish were determined to be undergoing overfishing based on a 2006 stock assessment (SEDAR 9). Management measures are necessary to end overfishing of gray triggerfish. Additionally, the Council has not yet approved post-Sustainable Fisheries Act (SFA) benchmarks and reference points for gray triggerfish.
