Title: ●Individual Processing Quota Issuance Correction Allocating Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands King and Tanner Crab Fishery Resources
Abstract: This action is a correcting amendment to regulations at 50 CFR 680.42(j)(3) necessary to correct discrepancies provided in a rule that was published on March 2, 2005 (70 FR 10173). With this correction, NMFS seeks to ensure that the March 2, 2005 final rule conforms to the statutory requirements and intent of the Crab Rationalization Program (Program) authorized by section 313(j) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. The March 2, 2005 final rule implemented regulations that establish the maximum amount of individual processing quota (IPQ) that may be issued in the Bristol Bay red king fishery, and the Bering Sea snow fishery. However, NMFS recently discovered that these regulations are not consistent with the statutory requirements of the Program.
