Title: ●Fisheries in the Western Pacific; Western Pacific Pelagic Fisheries; Control Date; CNMI Pelagic Longline Fishery 
Abstract: The Western Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) adopted a control date of June 19, 2008, for entry into the pelagic longline fishery in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). The purpose of this action is to notify fishermen who may be interested in participating in the pelagic longline fishery after June 19, 2008, they may not be assured of future access to the fishery if the Council and/or the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) decide to limit entry, or impose other measures to manage the fishery. Neither the Council nor NMFS have yet decided whether to limit new entry or impose other measures in this fishery, nor have they decided what other management measures might be implemented for the fishery.
