Title: Revised Medical Criteria for Endocrine Disorders (436P)
Abstract: Sections 9.00 and 109.00 of appendix 1 to subpart P of part 404 of our regulations describe those endocrine impairments that are considered severe enough to prevent a person from doing any gainful activity, or in the case of a child claiming Supplemental Security Income payments under title XVI, that cause marked and severe functional limitations. We are proposing to revise the criteria in these sections to reflect advances in medical knowledge, treatment, and methods of evaluating endocrine impairments.
