Title: ●Clarify the Requirements for Recontacting Medical Sources (3478P) 
Abstract: We propose to revise our regulations to state that, when the available medical evidence is inadequate to determine disability or when the evidence is unclear or in conflict with other information in the file, our adjudicators may: (1) Contact either the claimant or the appropriate medical source for clarification; (2) evaluate all of the evidence in the file to attempt to adjudicate the claim; or (3) order a consultative examination. This proposed rule will also clarify that our adjudicators are required only to "make every reasonable effort" to obtain the information.
