Title: Revisions to Rules Governing Platforms and Structures and Pipelines
Abstract: The revisions are necessary because of aging OCS infrastructure and the movement of OCS facilities into deeper waters through the use of new technology. These revisions will require lease operators and pipeline right-of-way holders to: (1) Submit information on the structural integrity of their OCS platforms; (2) submit an inspection program to MMS yearly; (3) provide additional information if they propose using unbonded flexible pipe or install pipeline risers on floating platforms. The rule, at the request of industry, incorporates an industry-developed document into our regulations.
