Title: Distribution of Qualified OCS Gulf Revenues to Nearby States
Abstract: This rule would implement a provision in the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006 (Pub. L. 109-432) that requires distributing a portion of qualified revenues collected from leases in the Gulf of Mexico to nearby States. This Act mandates allocating monies paid by certain OCS leases based on the distance from the State coastline to the lease. Revenues involved are from future leases in the newly opened areas of the Gulf of Mexico near Florida for the next 10 years and after 2016 from leases issued from 2007 forward in the whole Gulf of Mexico.
